About Me

I’ve worn many hats during my software development career, like Senior Software Engineer and Web Developer. I live in the central New York region. I love my raised bed vegetable garden and sitting on my balcony enjoying the flowers. I also enjoy crocheting, quilting, painting, creating macrame and even have dabbled in glass art.

Professional Interests

One of the things I enjoy most about software engineering is the constant opportunity to learn. Over the years I’ve worked across a wide variety of systems and technologies including healthcare applications, cloud infrastructure, APIs, databases, enterprise publishing systems, and large-scale integrations.

My primary technical background is in Python development, particularly using Django and REST APIs, but much of my career has involved adapting to unfamiliar systems, troubleshooting complex problems, and maintaining or modernizing large existing codebases. I enjoy understanding how systems fit together, improving workflows, and finding practical solutions to difficult technical problems.

I also enjoy the collaborative side of software development. Throughout my career I’ve mentored junior developers, created technical documentation and tutorials, and helped onboard team members working with unfamiliar systems and technologies.

Education and Teaching Interests

Returning to college later in life had a major impact on how I think about learning and problem solving. Beginning my academic journey at Onondaga Community College as a returning adult student gave me firsthand experience with the challenges many students face when entering or returning to technical education.

After many years in industry, I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. That experience reinforced my interest in computer science education and helping students connect foundational concepts with practical, real-world applications.

I’m especially interested in areas such as introductory programming, software engineering, APIs and systems integration, web development, databases, and helping students build confidence through hands-on problem solving and project work.
